Please read our Kitten Policy

Bengal Cat breeding programs have the sole purpose of promoting and protecting the Bengal breed. Subsequently there are strict guidelines that all registered bengal breeders adhere to. Registered bengal kittens essentially fall into two categories, they are either registered as 'Active Bengals' or 'Non Active Bengals'.

Active Bengals are registered with governing bodies (TICA or GCCF) as non neutered, ie: available for breeding. Active Bengals are those kittens that are of the highest standard. Those that are most likely to produce bengal kittens themselves that are of an equally high standard which will only enhance the future of the bengal breed.

Non Active Bengals are registered with the governing bodies as neutered, ie: not available for breeding. None active bengals are by no means inferior quality cats, however they do have more flaws than is accepted for breeding purposes. They are still pedigree cats and make wonderful pets.

All kittens from Chestnut Bengals will be supplied to their new owners at around 16 weeks of age, when they are fully prepared to move away from mum. We as breeders make the registration of Active and Non Active with the governing body. In the case of Active Bengals we will forward the registration document to the new owners as we receive it. In the case of Non Active Bengals we will retain the registration document until such point as we can see the neutering certificate from your vetenary practice.

This practice is widely accepted as the most effective way to ensure Non Active Bengals are not used for breeding purposes. No registered breeder will allow studding to take place without first seeing the correct certificate to prove the cat in question is registered as Active.
